Gemma Arterton has talked freely about the myriad of in development projects she is attached to, and many of them have never come to fruition, but it looks like one finally will. Variety is reporting “The Keys to the Street,” one of Christopher Nolan’s first screenplays, adapted from the novel by Ruth Rendell, is finally happening.
The film, co-written by Nolan and Michael Stokes, now has a director, Julius Sevcik, and Arterton has two new co-stars, Tim Roth and Max Irons. Filming is set to begin in the first quarter of 2014 with Arterton in the role of a woman who accepts a house-sitting gig in an attempt to escape from her violent husband (Roth). Amidst a string of ghastly murders in the neighborhood, she begins an affair with Irons’ character.
Arterton is most known for modestly successful actioners like “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and “Clash of the Titans” and was most recently seen in “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” opposite Jeremy Renner, British musical drama “Song for Marion,” and Neil Jordan’s vampire saga “Byzantium” with Saoirse Ronan. She recently wrapped psychological thriller “The Voices” opposite Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick.
Irons is coming off of YA alien invasion actioner “The Host” and BBC miniseries “The White Queen.” He recently wrapped Lone Scherfig’s ensemble drama “Posh,” based on the controversial play, opposite Sam Claflin and Douglas Booth.
